The very first job that I had was delivering newspapers in my neighborhood. Actually, it was really my brother's job, but I helped. We also used to do odd jobs for people, such as shoveling their driveway and raking their leaves. I also used to have a few babysitting jobs. I remember babysitting for this wealthy family. They gave me a good amount of money for just being at the house a few hours and doing next to nothing because their daughters slept most of the time.

My mom used to work at this nursing home that was two streets over from our house, so I got a job there and walked to and from work. I worked in the kitchen, filling up patients' trays and then delivering them. At the end of the shift, I had to do dishes. It got so hot in there, I was always sweating to death. I'd be soaked by the time I got home.

One job that I really liked was serving ice cream at Friendly's. I would always add extra scoops to my friends orders. I also made myself Fribble's during my shift and hid it behind the coffee machine so that I could sneak sips. They wouldn't let us eat for free.

My first day working the register at our local grocery store (Heartland), I passed out. The last thing I remember was asking a woman about coupons, then I awoke to people in front of me all worried. They said I came very close to hitting my head. I later found out that there was some kind of venting problem at that register because apparantly I was not the only one that it happened to. I ended up getting fired from that job because my till was also short. I knew a lot of people who worked there (including my aunt) who told me that five other people got fired that week for the same reason. Come to find out, there was someone (who we send our drawers to) who was stealing money. They fired her, but they refused to give me my job back.

One of my favorite jobs was working for a food company that caters to big business companies. The cafeteria that I worked at was in a corporate building. I was the companies best cashier. I was the fastest and friendliest. I also did more than just ring up the customers. I made desserts. It was cool because they gave me the freedom to make whatever I wanted. So, I would go in with some ideas and just grab all the ingredients I needed. I also made the coffee. We had regular and decaf, of course, but I also made different flavors, such as hazelnut (which was my favorite scent, even though I don't drink coffee.) I also filled up the frozen yogurt machine (I got to pick the flavor) and the drink cooler. I kept the place clean and I made sure to replenish anything that was running low, such as condiments. Whenever it was needed, I also made sandwiches to order as well as cook orders on the grill. I even worked at catering parties. That was a cool place to work at. I loved the hours as well. I worked Monday through Friday from 6~2 and I had weekends and holidays off.

I very temporarily worked at a Dunkin' Donuts serving donuts and coffee, but that totally sucked.

I then found a much better job working at Boston Chicken. I mostly cooked the food in the back, but occassionally I was needed to serve out front. I worked a lot of double shifts over there. We had a lot of fun over there at the end of the night. We would have food and water fights. We were like a family over there.

I was an operator at a couple of answering services. The first one I worked at was a little crap~hole of a place. It was out in the middle of nowhere and there were only a few employees. The boss was creepy. So, one day, me and another co~worker decided to walk out. I then went to work for a much nicer service. This was an actual office with cubicles and lots of people working. I really liked this job and I was good at it. I thought it was cool to take appointments for doctor's offices and page businesses for emergencies. We even had an alarm company who we answered for.

I took about six years off to be a stay~at~home mom. So, I did a lot of volunteer work at the kids' school. I was even a volunteer coordinator one year. But, then I felt it was time for me to go back to work. That's where I got my job at Toys R Us. It was so nice to get back to work again.

Right now, I have two jobs. I work at the same Toys R Us, and I am a substitute teacher for all the schools in my district. I love both of my jobs.
